There are many singers that we will probably remember from when we were younger. Some of those singers may have been popular at the time and may have been up-and-coming stars when we were in our teens. Other performers, however, may have come and gone from the scene a long time before we were born. For many people, this would include Elvis Presley and although he has been gone for many decades, most youngsters can still recognize his music and do a pretty good Elvis impersonation.
Elvis had many things going for him when it came to his popularity. Not only did he have unusual outfits and gyrating hips, but he also had some of the hardest music that was played at the time. That includes this song from a 1968 comeback special that shows Elvis in true form. He was on the stage with plenty of energy, dressed in a black leather outfit and singing ‘Jailhouse Rock’ for a very happy audience. I don’t know where he got all this energy, but he never stopped at any point during the concert.
The song that Elvis performed, Jailhouse Rock, was also one of the first music videos that was ever broadcast as well. It showed Elvis on a jail set with a lot of other dancers who appeared as if they were prisoners. It was one of the most basic music videos of all time but then again, it was instrumental in getting things started to what they are today.
Elvis went through a lot of phases in his career. He had his early music, his time in the Army, his movies and his late performances in Las Vegas. People will remember Elvis for a number of different reasons but it is unlikely that many people will forget him anytime soon. Watch his 1968 special in the following video:
