There were many game shows that played decades ago on TV. Some of them have stood the test of time and continue to be popular down to this day, including Family Feud, The Price Is Right, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune. Although some of the shows have lasted for decades, there were also some that were popular for a while but they have long since disappeared. Some of those shows even had a similar set of rules, where a word or phrase was known by one of the contestants and they had to get another contestant to guess it.
One of the game shows that used that premise was the $100,000 pyramid. As the name would suggest, you had the opportunity to compete for money throughout the game show and in the end, you could win the $100,000 prize. Since people were typically under a lot of pressure and not everybody was good at giving clues, there were very few people who won the big prize. Every once in awhile, however, it was given away and the person walked away as a true winner. Another show that was very similar was the $25,000 pyramid, and although the stakes were not quite as high, the contestants were still under pressure in amazing ways.
On this $25,000 Pyramid episode from 1983, the contestant is answering the six questions that would gain him the big prize money. Not only did he have to answer some increasingly difficult questions, there was even a misspelling on one of the clues that snuck by everyone.
In the end, the contestant walked away with well over $25,000 but he also got a prize from Dick Clark. When he came up to talk about the money that the contestant had won, Clark gave him the tile that was misspelled. I’m sure that it’s still part of his collection down to this day.
