If there is one thing that is true of all people, it’s the fact that they like to be entertained. The way that we might be entertained may differ from one person to another, but the outcome is generally the same. We might like to laugh at a comedy, be kept on the edge of our seat during a drama or perhaps try to figure out everything that is taking place in a mystery. Typically, we live our lives one or two hours at a time during those shows, but there is another type of show that can also entertain us in a rather unique way. I’m talking about game shows, and they have been a part of our culture for many years.
Some game shows come and go rather quickly but others stand the test of time. Even some of the popular game shows that were watched by many people at one time disappeared from the scene after only a few years or perhaps a decade. That was the case with the Match Game, a game show that people watched decades ago, typically in the middle of the afternoon. You never quite knew what was going to take place when you were watching the Match Game because they would carefully select those with unique personalities and then ask them questions that would put them under a lot of pressure. There were also some interesting celebrities that made it onto the Match Game as well.
Although it was always a lot of fun to watch the Match Game, there were plenty of moments that just didn’t make it onto the actual show. I’m not quite sure how long each episode was while they were taping it, but I’m always surprised with the number of mistakes and other funny things that happened in real life that were removed before it was on TV. Things certainly were strict at the time, so some things that were said off-the-cuff just were too risqué for TV.
