There are many interesting and brave individuals in the world where we live. Some of them receive recognition for the things that they do, such as firefighters and policemen but they are not the only brave people out there. In fact, there are many ordinary people who may not have an opportunity to show extreme bravery on a day-to-day basis but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t capable of doing amazing things when the opportunity provides itself. You might even find that they are some of the bravest people you know under those circumstances.
Some of the brave people that don’t get that type of recognition are farmers. If you happen to know any farmer, you realize that they have priorities in life and it has to do with their work, their livelihood and their land. Many people who are not familiar with what farmers do on a day-to-day basis do not know how much effort and hard work they put into their daily lives. Farming is hard work and it doesn’t matter if you are a production farmer with thousands of acres or if you have a small, hobby farm that you care for by hand, it can certainly take a lot of time and effort to keep up on things.
In the video that you see below, there is a fire raging across the fields of the farm and the farmer is doing what he can to stop it from consuming the rest of his crops. The farmer’s name is Eric Howard and after a thunderstorm in Colorado caused fires to start spreading, he realized that he had to take action immediately.
Rather than just sitting on his hands and waiting for the firefighters to arrive, he grabbed his tractor and a set of discs. He started racing along the edge of the fire to cut down his crops, creating a fire break that would stop the fire from burning further. It was a large task to take on, but as you see in the video, it was something that he was able to do. Watch the farmer take on a fire in the following video:
