Some musicians come and go from the scene so quickly that we may not even get to learn their music before they are gone. They may even be the ‘flavor of the month’, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that they are going to be around for more than 30 days. I’m sure that you can name at least one artist that has gone through this type of ordeal and unfortunately, the here today, gone tomorrow, exists for those individuals. Then again, there are others who not only make it more than 30 days, they become a superstar and their popularity even outlives their own lives.
There are a number of groups that fit into this category, but I would have to say that Pink Floyd stands apart from many of them. Not only do they have a string of hit records, they are a cult classic that is followed by thousands, if not billions of people. Admittedly, they are no longer around playing concerts but that doesn’t mean that the music doesn’t live on. In fact, it lives on by being played on the radio every day and there is no telling when that might slow down. Fortunately, you also don’t need to look back very far to see when they could share their talents with the world through live music.
In the video posted below, you get to see David Gilmore, the lead singer and guitarist for the rock band, Pink Floyd. It happened in 2002 when he was playing at the Meltdown Concert, and am sure that everybody who was in attendance for that show was amazed with what they were seeing. It was a once-in-a-lifetime event for many of them and one that they likely still remember, almost 2 decades later.
David Gilmore could have selected any number of different songs to sing at the concert. After all, they have some of the most popular albums of all time under their name. He decided to use a classic song, Wish You Were Here, and I would venture to say that the live version is just as awesome as the studio recording. Hear it for yourself in the following video:
