One of the things that most of us hope to avoid in life is having to go before a judge in a court of law. Of course, just because we are standing in front of the judge does not necessarily mean that we did anything wrong but it may mean that we were accused of some type of wrongdoing. There are a lot of things that can be stressful in life but I would have to admit, being accused of something and standing in court is probably going to be near the top of the list. The only thing we can do is hope that the judge will actually listen to our side of the story rather than ‘judging a book by its cover’. We may feel as if we have nothing to stand on, but it isn’t always the case.
Although some judges are going to want to get you in and out of the courtroom as fast as possible, there are others who are also interested in hearing your side of the story and perhaps even being a little bit empathetic. I’m sure that the 71-year-old woman in this video below was nervous when she was in court for running a red light and getting a traffic ticket. Although she had been driving for many years, it was a mistake that could have cost her her driver’s license. She didn’t have any room to say that she didn’t run the red light, because it was caught on camera but she still wanted to have a hearing ear from the judge.
As they say, you may never fully understand what somebody is going through until you walk a mile in their shoes. As she stood before the judge crying, she tried to explain that she was speeding for a reason and ran the red light by accident. It seems as if her husband was in the hospital and had gone through surgery. She was rushing to be by his side.
Most judges would hear your side of the story if this was the case but they may not necessarily be empathetic to your plea. This judge, however, was known for being very kindhearted and he had something interesting to say. You can see it for yourself in the following video:
