I think that most of us would agree that there is something compelling about watching talk shows. In fact, they have become so popular that you can see them on TV at almost anytime of the day. Some of the talk shows tend to get on more serious issues and others tend to be just some daytime enjoyment pass time if we happen to have the time to do so. In either case, however, it introduces us to individuals that we may see as celebrities in a variety of different ways. Every once in a while, there is also somebody unexpected that shows up on the show and delights us.
Although talk shows may be hosted by many different people, one of the greatest of all times was Johnny Carson. He was on the Tonight Show for a number of years and although he is no longer alive, many people still look at him as being one of the greatest talk show hosts that was ever on TV. Some of the people that he was able to interview and at times, have other interactions with on the show were superstars in their own right. Others may not have been quite so popular but being able to be interviewed by Johnny Carson was almost a guarantee that their celebrity status was sure to increase. It also included, on rare occasions, someone who was on the show that was basically unknown.
In 1985, a man by the name of Dave Tolley was at the Tonight Show in the audience. Little did he know that his visit to the Tonight Show that day would be a life-changing event. It isn’t often that people were given this type of break but he was given one beyond belief.
There is no doubt that Dave was a talented individual but like many other people, his talent would not likely be seen by others. He could’ve lived his entire life without being recognized but within a moment, he was suddenly a very famous individual and he followed that fame for many years.
