It seems as if every generation has the feeling that they are adding something to the world that was never done before. This can be seen in many of the trends that become popular during the time that we are children and we may continue to hold onto those trends, long after they have faded away. There is even such a thing as a generation gap, which often has to do with the different way that we handle things and it can make it difficult to communicate with people of an older or a younger generation. Quite simply, every generation brings something great into the world but there are some that took things to an entirely different level.
One of the ways that we often see these trends is through the music that is popular for the day. Perhaps something that was popular just 10 years ago is no longer being played on the radio but those who grew up with it think it is the best music of all time. Then again, most of us also recognize that some of the greatest musicians have already come and gone and it’s too bad, because they had so much to offer to the world. Often, those musicians leave something behind with their music that we can continue to enjoy and do enjoy for decades. That was the case with Louis Armstrong and Billie holiday.
When Louis Armstrong and Billie holiday were popular, it was a much simpler time. They didn’t have a YouTube channel, you couldn’t download their music onto your iPod or cell phone and if you wanted to listen to them, you either had to buy a record or you had to wait to hear them on the radio. Every once in a while, they also were captured in video and those videos are still around today.
The old video that you see here today is a rare performance of Louis Armstrong and Billie holiday together. The type of music that they are performing is not something that you don’t hear often today but it’s still something that is rather interesting to hear in a video.
