Most of us realize how difficult it can be to drop a few pounds. We might try to go on a diet and get some exercise and at times, we might even see some limited success. It is inspiring when we hear about other people who are similar to us that go on to lose the extra weight they have been carrying and are now trip and healthy. How much more so is it inspiring when we hear about someone who has dropped hundreds of pounds in a fight for their life?
That is what Juan Pedro Franco was able to do and the results truly speak for themselves. At one time, the 35-year-old man was considered the fattest man in the world. He weighed close to 1,300 pounds at the time but he has gone on to lose a considerable amount of weight and now he is walking for the first time in almost 10 years. Juan had to be confined to bed before he lost weight and he couldn’t do even the simplest tasks for himself. Since then, he has lost more than 728 pounds and can even walk with the assistance of a cane!

He had to go through a series of surgeries but was able to drop 60% of his body weight. Since then, he has been able to regulate his high blood pressure, diabetes and lung damage.
Jose Antonio Castaneda, his surgeon, has been a real lifesaver.
Speaking to Telemundo show Al Rojo Vivo, Juan said: “Just raising your arms, getting up every day, standing by a glass of water, going to the bathroom, stopping to bathe and that they are no longer towel baths. Water is life, everything is life. It feels very good. Fantastic that one can move more and be self-sufficient.”
