One of the many choices that we have in life is the people that we will call our friends. We sometimes come in contact with them quite by accident, perhaps meeting them at school, at work or even bumping into them at a coffee shop. They become more than an acquaintance and in some cases, they are a friend for life. Not all of us are able to remember every friend that we have had, but some of them are going to stick with us through thick and thin. They will sometimes even be there for us when we need them the most.
When we get older, our list of friends may begin to drop off dramatically. In some cases, it may be because they have passed away and in others, because we have separated due to distance or other issues. There are also friends that will remain by our side from the moment that we get close until our dying days. That is what happened with four couples who have been friends for over 20 years. They love hanging out with each other and they desire to grow old together. In order to make that a reality, they invested in a small town near the Llano River near Austin, Texas.
The little village that they created was known as the Llano Exit Strategy and they paid about $40,000 for each of the little cabins. Matt Garcia signed the designs, and the construction focused more on using space efficiently and being within the budget that each owner could afford.
The cabins are actually quite nice. They have slanted roofs, insulated windows, reflective walls and 5000-gallon water barrels. They are there for a purpose, to give each of the couples a place where they can retire and eventually grow old together.
