Those of us who have a dog in our life could probably never even imagine a time when we would treat them poorly, let alone outright abuse them. This type of despicable action is hated by so many people and when we do see it happening, we often want to share it because we are so frustrated with what we are seeing. Experts agree that the evil in an individual that allows them to abuse an animal will also allow them to abuse family members that are human as well.
In Enfield, the police department recently got a call about a dog that needed assistance. It was a German Shepherd, and he was out in the hot sun beside a riverbank, locked in a tiny cage. The police were quick to rush to the scene because they realize that it could have been very bad for the dog and for anyone who happened upon it. As it turns out, it was even worse than they first thought because the German Shepherd did not have any food or water to keep him comfortable while he was waiting for someone to rescue him.
As of yet, nobody has come forward to name the individual who left the dog in such a position. The officials are still looking for the former owner so they can slap a charge of animal cruelty on him. If you happen to have any information on the subject, you can contact Officer Ryan at jryan @ enfield.org or call 860-763-6400 ext. 1414.
Although the dog is recovering from the trauma, nobody knows how long he was left in the cage before he was found and rescued. If he wouldn’t have been found, he wouldn’t have survived very long.
