The summer’s over, which means that school is officially back in session for millions of children across the country. And if you happen to have kids of school age, you’ll know they’re dreading homework and pop quizzes, but looking forward to being back in class with their friends. However, one new student making her debut this year is undoubtedly one of the kids most excited to see the inside of a classroom; her name is Arianna Hopper.
Arianna is a 6-year-old with cerebral palsy from Brunswick, Georgia, and this year she’ll be attending the second grade.
Arianna attends Altama Elementary School, and recently, she was filmed getting on the school bus to start her first day of school. And the little girl’s reaction has melted thousands of hearts all over the world — it’s just too cute to put into words.
Arianna is the youngest of seven children, three of whom are adopted, including Arianna. Mark and Rebecca, Arianna’s parents, fostered this precious child at birth and officially adopted her when she was two-years-old. But from her first day, she’s been the most loving member of their family!
Mark and Rebecca can remember feeling hesitant at first about adopting a baby with cerebral palsy. They were not sure if they could provide her with the care she needed.
Of course, today the Hoppers have zero regrets about their decision and simply could not imagine their life without Arianna. She’s become such a bright light for their entire family as well as anyone lucky enough to meet her.
“No matter what, even in her situation, she’s just joyful and loves life in spite of her disability,” Mark told WSB TV.
And that happiness, joy, and love are exactly what they managed to record in a video that was later uploaded to Facebook.
Mark decided to get out his camera as Arianna was picked up for her very first day in the second grade in August of 2019. As she’s being lifted up into the school bus, while seated in her bright pink wheelchair, her excitement shines through on her joyous little face.
The thing that makes this video so incredible is the fact that Arianna is non-verbal. However, she manages to make it very clear that you definitely don’t need words to show joy, excitement, and gratitude.
In the video, Arianna is lifted onto the bus while wearing the biggest grin on her sweet little face. She giggles and waves goodbye to her proud dad who watches, filming every precious moment.
It’s clear that the six-year-old has been waiting for the entire summer to get back to school and start learning. Mark and Rebecca say that the school fosters a very positive environment for their daughter, and she receives nothing but the warmest love and support when she’s there.
Arianna is currently taking instruction to learn sign language at school, and they have planned a very interactive program for her. And when Mark asks his daughter if she’s excited, you can see a bit of the sign language is catching on as she “nods” her hand, which means “Yes!”
After Mark posted the priceless video to Facebook, there was a flood of folks who officially became “Arianna Fans.”
“Honestly everybody that comes in contact with her at church, at work, they always tell me they love her and how much her smile brings joy to them,” Mark said. “I’m glad that everybody gets to see this joy that she has that she brings to us every day and that everyone else can see and experience it.”
We could not be happier that the Hopper family blessed us by sharing their fantastic video with the world. It’s undoubtedly brought nothing but joy and happiness to the hearts of everyone who has watched it.
Here’s the full video below. Fair warning, your face may start to ache from smiling too much!
