Remembering The Classic American Children’s Toy Known As Crissy Dolls

Back in the day, Crissy dolls were known as the beautiful doll with beautiful hair. She was America’s sweetheart, and her hair was just mesmerizing. It could grow and grow right before your very eyes, with the touch of a button on her stomach. And if you wanted it shorter, well you just cranked her little wheel, and it would shorten in an instant. My aunt absolutely treasured her doll when she was a kid. Like other kids her age, she spent hours brushing Crissy’s long, beautiful hair, while dreaming of growing her hair that long someday.

Crissy was just so life-like, and my aunt never felt lonely when she was with her. It was like haven a best friend, even a sister. You could brush her hair and practice braids as well as every other hairstyle with Crissy. She would also add little pink ribbons and bows to her hair, which only made Crissy that much more beautiful. Millions of little girls felt more beautiful when playing with Crissy dolls, and her hair wasn’t the only thing special about her. She also had tons of different outfits and accessories that only added to her beauty. My aunt used to dress her in different clothes for almost any occasion, whether it was for a tea party or just going to school. But of course, playing “house” was her favorite game to play with Crissy. Not to mention Crissy was one of the few dolls which offered multi-cultural diversity.

A Crissy Doll can brighten anyone’s day, take it from one fan named Suzanne Crow, who wrote on Facebook:

“I spent Christmas day in bed sick as a dog, brushing her long red hair and thinking I was the happiest little girl in the world!”

And Allyson Germaine Thurston also proclaimed her love for Crissy Doll when she posted:

“I loved my Crissy doll!!!! I played with her all the time! Wish my daughter was into dolls and had one like I did! Hours of entertainment. No computers, iPads, phones! Just a doll with long hair! Life was so simple!”

Crissy dolls indeed remind us of a simpler time before the technology of today, when girls could pass the time and be entertained for hours with their dolls.
