Woman Avoids $85 Overweight Baggage Fee By Wearing 9 Pounds Of Clothing On Plane

We tend to get very frustrated when we go to airports. The surprising thing is, we all get frustrated for our own reasons. For some people, it is having to stand in long lines at security and wait to go through the entire process. For others, it may be the high prices or perhaps the fact that you are mistreated by somebody who works at the airline. One of the more frustrating things that we may have to deal with, however, is paying a lot of money for our baggage when we already pay a high price for our plane ticket.

wasn’t going to pay the extra fee, so she pulled nine pounds of clothes out of her suitcase and wore them before boarding a plane.

“I didn’t want to be using the little amount [of money] I had just so I could get my bag on the plane,” Wynn told the U.K. outlet. “I literally said, ‘I’m not paying it’, and started putting my clothes on.”

In the end, she wore 7 dresses, 2 pairs of shoes, 2 pairs of shorts, a skirt and a cardigan. She may have been a little warm, but she was winning when she boarded the plane for Manchester, England.

“I was boiling, absolutely boiling,” she said.

When she got to her see, other passengers had a good laugh at her expense but they also offered to pack some of the clothes into their bags. She ended up asking the flight attendant if she could repack some of the clothes into her bag and they allowed her to do it.

“I felt like I was going to pass out because it was so warm,” she said. “As soon as I got on the plane, I took it all off and put it back in my case.”

The suitcase was almost 9 pounds overweight and there was an $85 fee. She didn’t have that much money with her because she was on an all-inclusive vacation and almost everything was paid.

The big question is, was she successful?

“Saving £75 definitely put me in a good mood for the holiday. Everyone’s reaction to it being done put me in a good mood as well,” Wynn said. “I was worried I would get a negative reaction to it — people saying it was my own fault but not one person said anything even at the airport. It set up a good start to the holiday anyway.”

The airline even said that she was quite creative. Of spokesman said: “Natalie’s ingenuity here is noted! The good news for Natalie and the rest of our customers, is that later this month we are increasing our hand baggage allowance to 8kg. This will hopefully help her travel a little less like Joey from Friends next time.”
