So she looked closely at the ground near her young son and his small foot. And that was when she saw the large eastern brown snake lying across the path.
It was hiding right there in plain sight. The massive reptile was just centimeters away from the little boy as he stepped happily down the trail.
The deadly predator was wearing the exact colors of the earth.
The entire family had walked straight past the venomous creature without even blinking. And remarkably, the mother had stepped right by it too.
A local expert named Barry Goldsmith later explained the gravity of the situation. He made it clear how lucky they truly were on that walk.
