Tom Hank’s Son Chet Speaks Out About Growing Up with Famous Parents

Did you ever think what it would be like to grow up with famous parents? Most people would probably think it would be interesting, to say the least, but not every child of celebrities felt that way.

Chet Hanks, the 31-year-old son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson recently spoke out on a YouTube video about what it was like growing up in a famous household. He started out saying that he never had a strong role model to tell him to forget what people were saying because they were jealous.

He went on to say: “You have all these things that they want, so they are trying to f–king throw their shade at you so you can feel s–tty about yourself because they are jealous.’ I needed to hear that,” he said. “I didn’t have anyone to tell me that. This is me now telling the younger version of myself what I needed to hear then.”

When he was growing up, he said that many people felt that he was spoiled and arrogant because of his celebrity status. He tried so hard to be normal but it was hard to convince people that was the case.

“It was extremely hard to break down their walls,” he said. “So, I encountered a lot of disdain, a lot of animosity and negativity because everybody was just prepared to hate my guts.”

To make matters worse, a lot of the issues occurred behind his back but he was on to what was taking place.

“People kinda did f–k with me a lot growing up. It was never to my face,” Chet said. “It was always behind my back in the forms of gossip and s–t-talking.”

He does say that he knew people were jealous and he felt that there were some unique advantages to being the child of celebrity.

“There’s a lot of advantages, but sometimes it can be pretty weird. I got to do a lot of cool s–t that a lot of people don’t get the opportunity to do,” he said. “I got to travel the world, stay in nice hotels, fly on private planes, and I’m very blessed for that. I wouldn’t change my situation.
