Denzel Washington Opens Up About His 20-Year Friendship With Dakota Fanning

We don’t always know where our friends are going to come from and sometimes, they may come and go so quickly that we have a difficult time knowing they were even in our lives. At other times, a friendship may last for many years.

Denzel Washington has had a friendship with Dakota Fanning and it’s amazing that they have been friends for some two decades. Ever since they appeared in 2004 in the movie ‘Man on Fire’, they have maintained a friendship.

Fanning broke into the industry in Hollywood in that movie. When it was filmed, Denzel Washington was already a veteran of the industry.

At the time, he was in his 40s when he played the character of Creasy. Working along with him on the set was a 9-year-old girl, who played the part of Pita Ramos.

Now that they are going to be in the same movie again for the first time in 20 years, it seems as if the friendship would have revived. In actuality, they didn’t need to meet on The Equalizer 3, because they have been speaking to each Other for Many Years.

In speaking of his friend, Denzel Washington said: “She knows how to hit the ball back over the net. Sky’s the limit for her.’

What was probably strange is the fact that she was nine years old when they first worked together and now, she is in her 30s. He even admitted that it was strange, saying: “It was weird, you know, ’cause I’m like, ‘Oh she’s a grown woman.

“She was like a grown woman then, but now she’s a grown woman. And, you know, obviously a great talent… It wasn’t really strange, ’cause she was bringing it.”

She also had something to say, including that they had kept in touch and remain friends. Interestingly, she is also a friend of one of his daughters from when she attended New York University.

She said: “I’ve obviously, you know, known Denzel for a big part of my life, and one of his daughters is one of my closest friends, so I’m always in the loop.”

In speaking about the reunion, she said: “It’s been almost 20 years and I was quite young [in Man on Fire], but that’s not an experience that one forgets.

“The second time, I felt the same, like, my body felt the same feeling that I remember feeling all those years ago -excitement and a little bit of nerves and wanting to be as prepared as possible. He definitely is an actor that keeps you on your toes constantly.”
