China’s Biggest Train Station Pulls Brutal Feedback From Online Trolls

When it comes to architecture, it sometimes seems that the more creative you are, the more attention you get. This can work to your advantage in some ways but if you are building a new train station in China, you should perhaps not get too creative.

They came up with the design for the train station in North Nanjing, and it got a lot of attention. Once the design was posted online, people began to ridicule and poke fun at it.

The structure has four lobes that is supposed to make it look like a plum blossom. This came under fire very quickly, because plum blossoms usually have five petals.

It’s also a good idea to consider the cost of the station, which comes in at about $2.7 billion. Chinese social media was abuzz with people mocking the station, and there were millions of comments and views that were not looking at it favorably.

Those views came from a very simple reason, the train station looks like a sanitary napkin.

One of the comments wondered why millions of people online can see that it resembled a sanitary pad but the architect seem to be blind to it.

After this project is complete, it will be the largest transportation hub in the city. The 8.5 million residents of the area will be paying the bill, but it is supposed to serve some 36.5 million people every year.

Despite the fact that it is such a large project, social media has been poking holes and poking fun. Most of the jokes point out how much it looks like a giant sanitary pad.

I guess you can please some of the people some of the time but with designs like this, you can’t please any of the people any of the time.
